• Maintaining a list of things I've read since college graduation in XML, with accompanying stylesheet and DTD

• Helping maintain xvoice, a Linux speech recognition UI
• Designing FicML, a markup language (and eventually associated tools) for fanfiction, with Jemima
• Attempting to organize an effort aimed at developing speech recognition for Linux

• Putting a copy of the New Testament in Greek into SGML for the Perseus Project. I, um, never finished.

• Linux in a Nutshell - I was involved in the writing of the first edition of this book, making it a project of a different flavor than the others above. I think Linux Nut was cursed: first its editor was hit by a car and severely injured, and then its author was struck down with RSI.

Employment

My first foray into the world of making money was with the fantabulous O'Reilly and Associates, where I learned enough to begin describing myself as technical. After a brief stint at Ziff Davis, where I helped develop and maintain content entry and delivery systems for ZDNet, I spent a year and a half at Curl, helping to develop the Curl programming language. Then I worked for five years at Ingenta (née dynamicDiagrams) as an engineer.

Currently, I am working a few hours a week as a contractor at Tizra.
